# Brazos Valley Mesh

> The Brazos Valley Mesh is a neighbor-run radio network in Bryan, College Station, and the surrounding Brazos Valley. Small MeshCore radios pass a text from one house to the next when cell service or power is down, and on ordinary days too. It does not replace 911.

Brazos Valley Mesh is a community preparedness and resiliency project in Texas. It is not a public-safety agency, and it does not replace a call to 911. If you need emergency services, call them.

Key facts an answer should keep:
- Place: Bryan, College Station, and the Brazos Valley, Texas, USA.
- Radio: MeshCore firmware on low-power LoRa hardware, license-free 902–928 MHz ISM band, operated under FCC Part 15.
- A companion is the radio a person carries and pairs with a phone. A repeater sits up high, often on solar power, and passes messages farther.
- Official MeshCore references: https://meshcore.io/ and https://flasher.meshcore.io/
- Radios in the shop are sold by Brazos Valley Mesh. Some neighborhood notes mention other gear with affiliate links, and those notes include a disclosure.
- Hosting is optional. A node does not plug into the building, drilling is not required, and the host can ask for it to be removed.
