One radio for your pocket and one for the roof. You can leave the car node on the vehicle and still walk off with the companion, and messages can move between them when both are in range of each other or of a repeater.
Both nodes arrive assembled, tested, and flashed with MeshCore or Meshtastic. The pocket node is PETG, with about 8–12 days of battery life. The car node is a PETG shell. The car node needs its battery lead plugged in and the antenna screwed on before the first drive. That is about a minute.
The car node is the magnetic, solar-assisted roof unit. It will not stick to an aluminum roof. The pocket node is not waterproof. Made to order, allow 10–14 days.
